Moorfield Dog Park

The open fields at Moorfield, just outside Wakeham, give dogs exactly what they need - proper space to burn off energy without the chaos of a designated park. It's a straightforward spot: rough grassland where your dog can chase about freely, with enough room that you won't be constantly negotiating with other owners over territory.

Don't expect facilities. There's no café, no agility equipment, no manicured paths. What you get is land, air, and the chance for your dog to actually run. That's the appeal, really. Families with energetic breeds will get the most out of it, particularly if your dog struggles on a lead or needs serious off-lead time. A 45-minute visit is usually enough, unless you're using it as a proper exercise spot for a hyperactive spaniel or collie.

Timing matters less here than it does elsewhere - early morning or late afternoon tend to be quieter if you prefer fewer dogs around. Check locally for any restrictions or seasonal closures, as details were sparse.

If you're based at Chesil Beach Lodge Park or Haven Littlesea up the road, Moorfield works as a quick run-out between seaside days. Weymouth's busy beaches aren't ideal for dogs anyway, so having a dog-focused space inland gives you an actual alternative rather than just trudging along the promenade.
