About Moel Llanfair
The peak itself is working moorland rather than dramatic landscape photography territory. No dramatic outcrops or stone circles - just a trig point and grass, which is fine. The path is well-trodden and straightforward, marked clearly enough that you won't get turned around, though it does get a bit boggy after wet weather. Allow three hours for a comfortable round trip from the outskirts of Ruthin if you're not a fast mover.
Walkers will absolutely get their money's worth here. It's the sort of unflashy Welsh hill that doesn't need visitor centres or car parks - you just park near Ruthin and start walking. Families with decent-aged kids (eight upwards) will find it manageable. If you're staying at Clwydian Glamping Pods just down the road, it's an obvious half-day outing. Expect to be alone or near-alone even on weekends, which rather suits the whole affair.
