Minster Park

The Minster itself - a proper medieval church - sits at the heart of this modest green space on the Isle of Sheppey, just outside Sheerness. It's the sort of place you'll stumble upon while exploring the town rather than plan a day around, but that doesn't mean it's not worth your time.

The park gives you space to walk around the church at leisure, which dates back centuries and genuinely rewards a closer look if you're into that sort of thing. The grounds are quiet, occasionally windswept, and refreshingly free of the usual tourist scramble. You can sit on a bench and properly take in the building's architecture without someone's selfie stick in your face.

Families with young kids might find twenty minutes is about the limit unless they're particularly keen on history, but walkers exploring Sheppey will appreciate it as a natural stopping point. The church itself may well be open for a quick look inside - worth checking when you arrive. It costs nothing to wander the park itself.

Shurland Dale Holiday Park, a touch further out, is equally well-positioned for a morning walk over here. The real draw isn't the park alone but rather how it anchors you to the island's history while you're taking a break from the seafront.
