Meall Gruamach

The walk up Meall Gruamach from Pitlochry is a proper leg-stretcher without needing to commit to a full day in the mountains. It's roughly 2,500 feet of ascent, steep in patches, and the path gets boggy when wet - which in Perthshire is fairly often. But the views across to Ben Vrackie and down the Tummel Valley make it worth the sweat.

You'll need about four to five hours for the round trip, depending on fitness and how often you stop to catch your breath. The summit itself is a bit underwhelming - no dramatic peak, just a cairn and an expanse of moorland - but that's almost the point.
