MacLellan's Castle

Standing on the edge of Kirkcudbright, MacLellan's Castle is a proper fortress that demands a proper look. Built in the 1580s, this L-shaped tower house dominates the town's skyline with thick stone walls and narrow windows - the kind of place where you can almost hear the clatter of medieval life echoing off the sandstone. The castle's finest feature is the great hall, where the ornate fireplace and vaulted ceiling show someone had money and ambition to match.
