Lythe Hill

The walk up Lythe Hill takes about twenty minutes from Godalming, and it's steep enough that you'll feel it in your legs but not so gruelling that you'll regret it. The summit sits at just 217 metres, which means the views across Surrey's North Downs are proper expansive without requiring mountaineering skills. On a clear day you can see right across the Weald - it's one of those spots where the landscape actually opens up in a way that justifies the huffing and puffing.

Walkers will absolutely get the most out of this. It's a straightforward ascent through woodland, and the footpaths are well-maintained. Go on a weekday morning if you want it quiet - weekends pull the Surrey walking crowd. Don't expect dramatic peaks or dramatic anything, really.
