Lus Hill sits just outside Fairford in Gloucestershire, and while it's not exactly a household name, the walk up rewards you with genuine 360-degree views across the Cotswolds - the kind where you can actually spot the curve of the land if the weather plays ball.

It's a modest peak rather than dramatic, but that's rather the point. The approach is straightforward enough, maybe 20 minutes of steady climbing depending on your route, and you're not fighting crowds or tackling anything technical. Walkers will appreciate the clarity of sight lines across to distant ridges and valleys. Families with reasonably fit kids can manage it without drama, though younger ones might find the ascent a bit of a slog without proper encouragement.

The summit itself is fairly bare - no cafe, no gift shop, just you and the view. Bring a packed lunch if you fancy stopping up there. Come mid-morning on a weekday for the best light and minimal other people. Weekends near Fairford tend to draw a few ramblers, but nothing like the popular Cotswold trails further north.

If you're staying at Second Chance Touring Park nearby, it's an easy morning outing before heading into Fairford for lunch. Great Farm's only a couple of miles further and worth considering for a longer stay. The hill itself works best as part of a wider walking loop rather than a standalone trip - pair it with exploring the surrounding footpaths and you've got a proper half-day out.
