Lowe Wood

Lowe Wood sits just outside Bridgnorth and delivers what you'd expect from a Shropshire forest - decent walking trails winding through mixed woodland with enough space to actually get away from people. The trees are proper dense in places, the paths are well-marked, and there's a genuine sense of stepping back from things.

Walkers will find the most to enjoy here. The wood is manageable for a couple of hours or you can stretch it into a half-day circuit depending on which routes you take. Families with older kids do well - younger ones might find it a bit samey after the first twenty minutes. It's not dramatic or showpiece stuff, just solid woodland walking with the occasional view where the trees open up.

Free access as far as we can tell, though facilities are minimal. Go midweek if you can and bring proper shoes - the ground gets boggy after rain. Spring is genuinely lovely here, but honestly any season works if the weather's on your side.

If you're based at Wheathill Touring Park or Woodland Escapes nearby, it's an easy diversion to fill a morning or afternoon. Don't expect Cannock Chase levels of infrastructure or beauty - Lowe Wood is more about a quiet walk than a destination in itself. Worth factoring in if you're doing the Bridgnorth area, but don't set your trip around it.
