Bromdon Rough

Bromdon Rough is a proper patch of ancient woodland just outside Bridgnorth, the kind of place that rewards a quiet morning walk far more than it rewards Instagram scrolling. The trees are old and thick, the floor is soft with years of leaf litter, and if you time it right you'll see almost nobody else. It's woodland as it should be - no manicured paths, no visitor centre, just the forest getting on with things.

This is squarely walker territory. You're not getting dramatic views or dramatic anything really. What you get is the particular peace that only comes from being surrounded by proper trees, the kind of light that filters through the canopy, and the chance to spot whatever wildlife fancies showing itself that day. A couple of hours is the sweet spot before the novelty of "more trees" starts wearing thin. Bring a book and stay longer, or swing through on your way to something else.

If you're camped at Wheathill Touring Park just down the road, this is genuinely worth the short drive - it breaks up a park stay without needing to plan a full day. Woodland Escapes and Churchbridge Glamping are close enough too that you could slot it in without faffing about. The whole area around Bridgnorth has the bones of a solid walking holiday, and Bromdon Rough is the quieter alternative to whatever honeypots are packed with school groups that week.
