The setup works well for families with younger kids who'd struggle on long walks, and it's genuinely impressive to have a lion padding past your wing mirror. Older children and animal enthusiasts will find it engaging, though you're at the mercy of where creatures decide to congregate - sometimes they're right there, other times they're distant shapes in the fields. Allow a solid three hours to do it properly.

The site itself is vast, so factor in time for the various animal enclosures and any indoor attractions. Warminster is the nearest proper town if you need supplies before arrival.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - the Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is barely a quarter-mile away, or there's Center Parcs Longleat Forest for something more upmarket - Longleat works brilliantly as part of a broader Wiltshire break. You get the wildlife spectacle without leaving your transport, and the Longleat House estate itself is worth exploring separately on foot. It's a solid day out, particularly if the weather plays ball and the big cats are active.
