London Golf Club

Two championship courses sit just outside Sevenoaks, and if you're a golfer staying at one of the nearby parks - Thriftwood Country Park is barely a mile and a half away - this is where you'll want to spend a morning. The Old Course and the newer Masters layout offer genuinely testing golf, not a par-3 knockabout. The clubhouse has proper views across the Weald, and there's a decent restaurant if you've booked a round.

This isn't a casual drop-in spot. You'll need to arrange a round in advance, and there's a reasonable green fee to factor in. Non-members can play, though membership does exist if you're keen. Allow a full four to five hours for 18 holes, more if you're slower off the mark.

The surrounding area - with Gatehouse Wood and Badgells Wood camping just a few miles south - makes it an easy fit into a wider park-based holiday. The courses are well-maintained and genuinely challenging, so this rewards decent golfers rather than complete beginners. If someone in your group isn't into it, Sevenoaks itself has enough shops and cafes to keep them occupied for a couple of hours. Worth the drive if golf's on your agenda, but pointless if you're not a player.
