Loch Biallach an Fhiodhain

The loch sits tucked into the hills above Taynuilt, a proper working landscape where the water reflects the Argyll ridgeline and not much else disturbs the quiet. It's small - you won't find crowds or facilities here, which is rather the point. The shoreline is rough and accessible enough for a gentle walk, though the hills rise steeply enough that you'll feel properly immersed in the landscape without pretending you've trekked somewhere ambitious.

Walkers will get the most from this. It's the kind of place to swing past if you're already exploring the Taynuilt area rather than drive specifically to it. The water is clear on decent days, and the surrounding woodland and open hill ground mean you can potter about for an hour or so without running out of ways to spend your time. Families with young kids might find it a bit thin on attractions unless they're genuinely keen on water and quiet, but older children who'll actually walk will appreciate it more.

There's no visitor infrastructure that I'm aware of - no café, no car park with signs, no entrance fee. Just pull in near the water and go from there. If you're staying at Loch Awe Holiday Park just a few miles down, this makes a decent morning or late afternoon diversion. The light's often best earlier in the day when the hills catch it properly. Worth twenty minutes of your time if you're passing; don't schedule your week around it.
