Llechryd Bridge

Cross the Teifi River on foot and you'll understand why Llechryd Bridge commands such respect locally. This stone arch spans the water just outside Cardigan, a proper feat of Victorian engineering that's become the anchor point for anyone exploring this corner of West Wales.

It's a short walk from the car park - maybe ten minutes - and the bridge itself rewards a proper look. The stonework's held up remarkably well, and from underneath the arch you get a real sense of the river's power, especially after rainfall. The Teifi runs fast here, which is partly why the bridge was built in the first place: locals needed to cross without fording.

This isn't a destination you'll spend hours at. Go for the walk, photograph the structure, maybe sit on the bank for a bit. Families with young kids will enjoy the short stroll and the chance to spot herons or cormorants if they're patient. History buffs might linger longer, thinking about the engineering involved.

The real value is how it sits within a broader Cardigan Bay circuit. You're barely five kilometres from Cardigan Bay Holiday Park and Mwnt Camping, so it works as a morning stop before heading to the beaches at Mwnt or Newquay. Allow thirty minutes to an hour maximum, longer if you're keen on photography or a riverside picnic. Free to access, and there's enough verge space to park safely near the approach.
