Little Law

Little Law sits just outside Biggar as a proper little hill walk rather than a proper mountain - the kind of thing that takes forty minutes up and feels like a decent achievement without needing fell boots and a packed lunch. The summit's nothing dramatic, but on a clear day the views across the Lowlands are genuinely worth the climb. You get a real sense of the rolling agricultural landscape that defines this part of South Lanarkshire, with green fields rolling away in every direction.

It's ideal for families who want to tick a walk off without committing to a full day in the hills. Kids aged six upwards will manage it fine, and there's something satisfying about reaching the top of an actual named peak, even if it's only 299 metres. The path's straightforward enough - no scrambling or anything technical - though it does get a bit boggy in places after rain.

There's no visitor infrastructure at the top, so bring weather-appropriate gear and maybe a flask. The nearest town, Biggar, is close enough that you could easily combine it with other activities - a quick walk before heading into town for lunch works well.

If you're staying at Mount View Caravan Park nearby, Little Law makes a decent morning outing. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's a proper little Scottish hill that does what it says on the tin. Worth the detour if you're in the area.
