Little Farmers

Little Farmers near Taunton is one of those wonderfully odd Somerset landmarks that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards a visit. It's a working farm with genuine character - the sort of place where you can watch actual farming happen rather than a sanitised version of rural life. Kids absolutely get it, especially younger ones who haven't yet worked out that food doesn't magic itself into supermarkets.

You can expect to see livestock, seasonal crops, and the general chaos of a proper functioning farm. There's something oddly calming about it - no twee gift shops or Instagram moments, just the real deal. Most people allow an hour or so, though you could stretch it to two if you're keen on chatting with the owners or letting small children potter about properly.

It works brilliantly as a morning stop if you're based at Cornish Farm Touring Park or Holly Bush Caravan Park, both within easy driving distance. Neither park is a palace, but they're solid bases for exploring the area around Taunton. Little Farmers pairs well with a day out exploring the Quantock Hills or Exmoor if you're that way inclined.

Admission details are a bit sketchy online, so ring ahead before you go - these places often work on loose hours. It's free or a small donation in many cases. Definitely worth the detour if you've got children in tow or you're after something genuinely local rather than another theme park experience.
