Leybrook Coppice

The woodland paths through Leybrook Coppice are genuinely lovely - proper old-growth oak and beech that feel properly ancient. You're just outside Bewdley, which makes it an easy escape from the town centre if you've got a few hours to kill.

It's the sort of place where you actually hear yourself think. The canopy is thick enough that it stays cool even in summer, and the light filtering through the leaves has that golden quality that makes you understand why people bang on about woodlands. Paths are well-trodden but never feel crowded, even on decent weather weekends.

Walkers will get the most out of this - it's not a destination view or a specific feature you're ticking off. You're here for the walk itself and the general sense of being among proper trees. Kids aged six upwards would enjoy it, though younger ones might lose interest after forty minutes or so. Families based at Stanmore Hall Touring Park nearby would find it a useful half-day outing.

There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared with water and decent shoes - the ground gets muddy in places. Free to wander, and you can spend anywhere from an hour to a full afternoon depending on how many paths you want to explore. Go on a weekday morning if you want the place nearly to yourself.
