Devils Spittleful

The name alone makes it worth the climb - Devils Spittleful sounds like something from a fantasy novel, though the reality is far more peaceful than sinister.

Walkers will relish the woodland paths leading up through the Wyre Forest, while families should know it's a proper uphill slog that'll test younger legs. The reward at the top is substantial: sweeping views across the Severn Valley towards the Malvern Hills on clear days, with Bewdley's red-brick rooftops spread out below.

Being part of the Wyre Forest, there's no admission fee and you can tackle it any time of year, though spring and autumn offer the best walking conditions. Allow a good two hours return from the nearest car park. The terrain can be muddy after rain, so decent boots are essential.
