Leverhulme Park Athletics Stadium

The athletics track at Leverhulme Park sits just outside Bury, a proper working stadium rather than a tourist attraction dressed up for visitors. It's the home of Bury Athletic Club, and unless you're watching a meet or training session, there's not much to linger over - it's a functional oval with modest stands and the usual clubhouse facilities.

This is squarely for people with a genuine interest in track and field. Families won't find much to occupy them for more than twenty minutes if there's nothing scheduled, and casual walkers might find it underwhelming compared to the green space elsewhere in the area. But if you're here during a competition or you've got a runner in the family keen to watch some proper athletics, it's worth timing your visit around the fixture list.

The park itself has more appeal than the stadium alone. There are decent walking trails through the surrounding grounds, and it connects reasonably well with Burrs Country Park just 4.5 miles away - that caravan site sits within much nicer parkland with woodland and water features, so it's a better base for a proper outdoor holiday. Leverhulme works better as an addition to a Bury visit rather than a destination in itself.
