Learchild Dog Field

A modest field on the outskirts of Alnwick where locals bring their dogs to run and play - nothing fancy, but that's rather the point. There's space to let them off-lead without worry, proper grass underfoot, and enough room that even on a busy day it doesn't feel cramped. The field sits peacefully away from the town bustle, with decent fencing and a straightforward layout that works well for dogs of all ages and temperaments.

This isn't a destination in itself. You're not driving here specially. But if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks - River Breamish, Riverside Rothbury, or Percy Wood - and you've got a dog that needs a proper run without the stress of traffic or crowds, it's genuinely useful. Takes maybe thirty minutes including a walk there and back from Alnwick itself. The grass can get muddy after rain, which is fine if you don't mind a damp car on the drive back.

Best suited to anyone with a dog in tow. Kids might find it dull unless they're keen on animals. It's free, as far as anyone can tell - there's no gate or attendant that we saw. Go early morning if you want peace and fewer dogs about, though it's rarely heaving anyway. It's the kind of place that does one job well: gives your dog space to be a dog. That's enough.
