Last Clansman Memorial

The Last Clansman Memorial sits quietly on the slopes above Ballachulish, a modest cairn marking where Eachan MacLachlan - supposedly the last of his line - met his end in the 1690s. It's not a visitor centre or museum; it's a proper hillside walk through Highland landscape with a story attached.

The memorial itself is frankly underwhelming if you're expecting something grand. This works best for walkers interested in Scottish clan history rather than families wanting a quick stop. You'll need decent boots and weather sense; there's nothing between you and the elements up there. The nearest facilities and fuel are back in Ballachulish itself.
