Langroyd Country Park

The moorland around Colne gets properly wild at Langroyd Country Park, where you're suddenly surrounded by proper upland landscape rather than the towns creeping up from the valleys. It's the kind of place that sits well alongside the holiday parks dotted around - Thornton Hall Country Park and Holgates Ribble Valley are both close by, so you can base yourself in a glamping pod or caravan and use Langroyd for a half-day out. Free access as far as these things go, though facilities are minimal. Bring a map, proper footwear, and check the weather before you head up - exposure is real on the ridge, and visibility drops fast when clouds roll in.
