The Bronze Age settlement at Lanacombe sits on the Devon coast near Lynton, and frankly, it's one of those archaeological sites that rewards patience more than instant gratification. You're looking at earthwork remains and some stone foundations from around 1500 BC - not a reconstructed village or museum piece, just the stubborn outline of what people left behind. The appeal is in the reading of the landscape itself: low banks, shallow ditches, the ghost-shape of roundhouses arranged as they were three and a half millennia ago.

This is squarely a walk for people who actually care about Bronze Age settlement patterns, or for history buffs wanting something with genuine substance beyond the usual visitor-centre fare. Families with young kids might struggle - there's nothing to touch or climb on, and you need to actively imagine what you're seeing. Walkers fare better. The site integrates into the North Devon coastal paths reasonably well, so you can string it into a longer hike.
