Lamb Copse

A small woodland walk just outside Cirencester that won't set the world alight but serves a purpose if you're camped nearby. Lamb Copse is the sort of place locals know about - dense enough to feel like proper forest, open enough that you won't get claustrophobic. The paths are straightforward, no scrambling required, and it's the kind of spot where kids can work off energy without you worrying they'll get lost.

It's woodland, plain and simple. Mixed trees, decent undergrowth, the occasional bit of interesting mossy ground underfoot. Nothing rare or remarkable, but on a grey Cotswold afternoon it does the job. The walk takes somewhere between thirty minutes and an hour depending on which route you take and how often you stop to examine tree trunks.

Families staying at Hoburne Cotswold or Second Chance, both within three miles, would find this worth a morning visit. It pairs well with a walk around Cirencester Park afterwards - gives you two different types of greenery in one day. Don't expect facilities, signage, or anything fancy. There's no admission charge that I'm aware of, and no need to book ahead.

If you're the type who gets bored looking at trees, skip it. But if you want a gentle leg-stretch in actual woodland rather than a manicured park, and you're staying in the area, it's solid enough. Not worth driving from afar for, but if you're passing through Gloucestershire, it fills an hour.
