The seafront at Kirkcaldy stretches for nearly two miles along the Firth of Forth, and it's the sort of place that grows on you rather than hitting you with instant wow factor. There's a proper promenade here - flat, easy-going, lined with beach huts and the occasional bit of green space - that makes for a solid leg-stretch if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks like Kinghorn Harbour or Sandhills. The water views are decent enough, especially on clearer days when you can see across the firth, though I'll be honest: it's not going to make your breath catch.

What makes it work is the straightforwardness of it all. You can walk the whole thing in under an hour without breaking a sweat, which means it's genuinely suitable for families with younger kids or anyone after a gentle coastal wander. The sandy beach isn't dramatic but it's there if you fancy a paddle. The town itself sits right alongside - fish and chips shops, cafes, the usual seaside bits - so you're not isolated out on some windswept headland.

If you're based at Pettycur Bay or Kingdom Caravan Park, it's worth factoring in as part of a wider Fife coastal circuit rather than a destination in itself. Pair it with a walk around Kinghorn or a visit to the town's attractions and you've got a pleasant half-day sorted. Go when the weather's decent; grey and drizzly it becomes a bit of a trudge. Free to access, and no time limit - stay as long as it takes to decide whether you fancy a chippy tea.
