Kings Quoit Burial Chamber

Three massive stones balance precariously on a fourth, creating what looks like an ancient stone table perched on the Pembrokeshire clifftops. Kings Quoit is one of Wales' most accessible Neolithic burial chambers - a proper dolmen that's managed to survive 5,000 years despite looking like it might topple over at any moment.

Getting there involves a pleasant walk across farmland from the nearest car park, though the path can get muddy after rain. The chamber itself sits dramatically close to the cliff edge, offering cracking views across Carmarthen Bay when the weather's clear.

History buffs will love the fact that this burial chamber predates Stonehenge, while kids often find the precarious-looking capstone fascinating - though they might get restless after twenty minutes of ancient monument appreciation. The site works well as part of a longer coastal walk, and you're only a short drive from Tenby if you fancy fish and chips afterwards.
