Kimberley Park

The woodland paths at Kimberley Park wind through proper Cornish countryside just a few miles south of Truro, and it's the kind of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. Ancient trees, open meadows, a stream cutting through - the whole thing feels genuinely wild despite being tucked away on the edge of suburbia. You get the sense the place cares about what it's doing, which matters.

It's best for walkers and nature types who don't need facilities or fanfare. Families with younger kids might find an hour satisfying; teenagers will likely want more to do. The real pull is the quietness - genuinely rare around here. Bring binoculars if you're into birds, which plenty are.

There's no obvious visitor centre or charge as far as I can tell, though you should check locally in Truro before heading out. Allow two to three hours for a proper poke around without rushing. Early morning gives you the best light and minimal foot traffic.

It slots nicely into a week based at any of the nearby parks - Trethem Mill and Carnon Downs are both within fifteen minutes' drive, and the glamping options at Stay Wild and Tresyjo are equally close. You could easily combine it with Truro's cathedral and the waterfront if the weather turns. It's not dramatic, but that's rather the point.
