Kilkeel Baptist Tabernacle

The Baptist Tabernacle sits on the main street of Kilkeel, a working fishing port on County Down's coast, and it's worth a quick stop if you're passing through. The building itself is Victorian - solid red brick, nothing flashy - but there's something honest about it. You'll find it easily enough in the town centre, and the locals are generally welcoming if you want to look around.

It's not a major draw on its own. Twenty minutes would cover a proper look inside, and unless you're specifically interested in 19th-century dissenting Protestant architecture, it won't occupy you for long. But if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - Sandilands is only three miles away, Cranfield and Chestnutt about the same distance - and you're curious about local religious history, it's there. The Mourne Mountains dominate the inland view from Kilkeel itself, and that's honestly the bigger pull: walks, views, proper scenery.

Oakwood glamping sits at 4.7 miles out towards those mountains, so if you're based there, you'd combine this with coastal walks around Kilkeel harbour or a drive up into the hills. Annalong Holiday Park, further east, gives you access to the same area. Ring ahead if you want to visit inside the Tabernacle - opening times aren't widely advertised and it's still an active congregation, so you'll need to catch them at the right moment.
