It's a straightforward spot - you pop in, grab maps, chat to staff who actually know the area, and pick up leaflets about walks, fishing spots, and local history. Nothing fancy, but genuinely useful if you're planning to make the most of a few days here.

Walkers will find it invaluable. The staff can point you toward proper hikes through the Mournes, recommend the easier coastal paths if you've got kids in tow, or suggest fishing locations if that's your thing. The centre itself won't keep you occupied for hours, but it's the starting point for everything else worth doing in the area.

If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby parks - Sandilands is closest at just under three miles, or you could try Cranfield or Chestnutt a bit further out - call in here first thing. Spend twenty minutes gathering intel, then head out properly equipped. The Mourne Mountains are genuinely impressive if you pick the right walk for your fitness level, and the coastal stretches around Kilkeel itself are lovely for a quieter afternoon.
