Kesgave Town Sign

Just off the A1214 between Woodbridge and Ipswich, you'll spot what might be Suffolk's most peculiar roadside attraction. The Kesgrave Town Sign isn't your typical wooden village marker - it's actually a proper art gallery built into an oversized town sign structure. Rather brilliant concept, really.

Inside this unlikely venue, local artists display rotating exhibitions of paintings, photography and crafts. The space is compact but surprisingly well-lit, and the novelty factor alone makes it worth a quick stop if you're passing through. Kids will be fascinated by the sheer oddness of it all, though don't expect to linger more than twenty minutes unless there's something particularly gripping on show.

Being so close to Woodbridge, it slots in nicely with a day exploring the town's antique shops and riverside walks. The sign sits on a busy road, so parking requires a bit of care, but there's usually space nearby. It's one of those quirky Suffolk touches that reminds you why this county has such character - someone clearly thought 'why not put an art gallery in a town sign?' and just went ahead and did it. Whether it's actually open when you visit is another matter entirely, but the external structure is worth a photo regardless.
