Invercauld House

The grey granite walls of Invercauld House rise from the Deeside landscape like something from a Victorian novel - and that's because this Scottish baronial pile is genuinely the real deal. Built in the 1660s and substantially reworked in the 1880s, it's a proper castle in the proper sense, seat of the Farquharson clan and still very much a private residence rather than a tourist attraction you can wander through at will.

You won't be getting inside for a proper tour, and the exterior viewing takes maybe twenty minutes.
