Innellan Hill

The walk up Innellan Hill takes maybe forty minutes from the village, and you'll understand why locals bother the moment you crest the top. It's not particularly high or dramatic - nothing that'll make your legs sing afterwards - but the view across the Firth of Clyde proper opens up, with the hills beyond Dunoon rising up in proper fashion. On a clear day you can pick out the Cowal Peninsula stretching away. The path itself is straightforward enough, well-trodden from generations of Dunoon day-trippers and locals after an afternoon out. Kids will manage it without fuss, though it's steep enough that younger ones might grumble the last bit. There's nothing to do at the top besides stand about and take photos - no café, no facilities, no nonsense - which is rather the point. Free, entirely, and you can be up and back before tea time. The real value here is timing it with a stay at one of the local holiday parks. Beach House Pods sits less than a mile away, so you could knock this out as a morning walk before settling in properly. It works well as a warm-up walk before tackling anything more ambitious in Argyll. Honestly, if you're staying in the area for a few days, it's worth the leg work - the views justify the effort, even if it's not going to be the centrepiece of your trip.
