Hundred Acres

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist trap. Hundred Acres lives up to its name - it's genuinely substantial, with dense trees, winding paths, and enough space to feel genuinely remote despite being minutes from Haywards Heath. The forest floor is thick with bracken and leaf litter, especially atmospheric in autumn when the canopy turns copper and gold.

It's the sort of place where you won't see crowds, which is either its strength or its weakness depending on what you're after. Families with young walkers will appreciate the relatively gentle terrain and the fact you can wander for an hour or two without hitting a dead end. History buffs might find it less rewarding - there's little in the way of marked features or information boards, so it's more about the walking itself than learning anything specific.

The nearest accommodation options - Worth Forest Glamping, Hook Farm Campsite, and Long Acres Caravan & Camping Park are all within a few miles - make it a natural addition to a camping or glamping stay in the area. Allow two hours for a decent circuit rather than rushing through. Go during weekday mornings if solitude matters to you; weekends pull in the local dog-walkers.
