Horcott Hill

The walk up Horcott Hill takes about twenty minutes if you're not dawdling, and honestly, the effort feels worth it once you crest the top. You're looking at proper countryside views across the Cotswolds from here - rolling fields, distant church spires, the works. It's not dramatic or Alpine, but it has that gentle English landscape thing going on that makes you understand why people pay good money to sit in this corner of Gloucestershire.

Walkers will get the most from this. It's straightforward enough for families with older kids, though there's nothing particularly exciting once you've reached the summit - no café, no visitor centre, just views and grass. Bring a picnic if you want to make an afternoon of it. The approach from Fairford side is the most obvious route, and on a clear day you'll spot landmarks for miles around.

Timing-wise, allow an hour to ninety minutes if you're not rushing. Go on a weekday morning before the school holidays if you want it quieter. The hill's accessible year-round, though winter can make the path muddy depending on recent rain.

If you're staying at Great Farm - just under a mile away - this becomes your morning constitutional. Second Chance Touring Park is a bit further out, so less of an easy stroll. Either way, it's a solid addition to a Cotswolds park holiday, though I wouldn't plan a day around it alone. Pair it with a walk around Fairford itself or the riverside paths nearby, and you've got a proper half-day sorted.
