Honiton Show

The Honiton Show rolls into town each summer as one of Devon's proper agricultural fixtures - the sort of event where you'll see everything from prize cattle and vintage tractors to falconry displays and local craft stalls. It's a working farm show at heart, so expect competition rings, show jumping, and enough wellies to boot a small army. The energy's infectious, especially if you've got kids in tow. They'll lose hours at the petting areas alone, while adults genuinely enjoy the craftsmanship on display - there's real quality in the artisan produce and handmade goods.

Timing-wise, you're looking at a full day here, minimum three or four hours if you're doing it properly. Go early to beat the crowds and actually see the main ring events. The West Hill area surrounding Honiton is rolling farmland, so the setting's pleasant enough, though weather can make or break it - rain turns the fields heavy, which is worth factoring in with kids.

If you're staying at Hartridge Springs Spa Glamping nearby, the show makes an excellent afternoon outing that doesn't demand too much travel. It's proper Devon - not touristy, genuinely local, and the sort of thing that sticks with families rather than being forgotten by the car park.
