Holy Trinity, Loddon

Walking into Holy Trinity at Loddon feels like stepping into a Norfolk secret. The church sits in this quiet village east of Bungay, and it's genuinely one of those places where time seems to have paused properly. The building itself is 15th-century, with that unmistakable East Anglian flintwork and a tower that dominates the landscape for miles around. Inside, you'll find some decent medieval woodwork and the sort of peaceful atmosphere that makes you understand why people bothered building these things in the first place.

It's absolutely free to visit, which helps. The kind of spot where you spend half an hour looking at the stone work and the windows, maybe wandering round the churchyard for a bit. Not a destination in itself unless you're really into ecclesiastical architecture, but genuinely worth a detour if you're staying at Wardley Hill Campsite or The Wildings Elms Meadow nearby - both rated brilliantly and only a short drive away.

Historically minded types will get the most from it. Kids might find twenty minutes enough unless they're already interested in old buildings. The real appeal is the quietness of the whole thing and the fact Loddon itself hasn't been knocked about too much. Spring and early summer are lovely - the churchyard's pleasant and you're not sweating through a visit. Pop in when you're exploring the broader Bungay area rather than making it the main event.
