Holy Cross Church

The old kirkyard at Holy Cross, just outside Appin, sits quietly above the road with views that stretch across to the water. It's a proper village church in that straightforward Scottish way - whitewashed, modest, the sort of place that's been there for centuries without fussing about it.

The walk from the road takes just a few minutes.

If you're based at one of the caravan parks nearby - Creagan Station Tourers is closest, or Oban Camping if you're after something bigger - Holy Cross makes an easy leg-stretch combined with a walk down to the village itself. Appin's small but friendly, and you could easily combine this with exploring the wider Argyll coastline. The real draw isn't the church building itself; it's the chance to pause, breathe, and get a sense of how people in these parts have lived and died for generations.
