Highlandman Park

The paths through Highlandman Park wind through proper woodland terrain on the outskirts of Crieff, with enough elevation change to keep your legs honest without becoming a full-on hike. It's a nature reserve rather than a manicured park, so expect natural scrubland, native trees, and the kind of quiet you don't get in town. The main draw is straightforward: a decent walk through Perthshire's landscape with decent views across the surrounding countryside.

Walkers will find the most value here. It's not the sort of place where you'd spend half a day, but an hour or so wandering the trails clears the head properly. The terrain suits families with older kids comfortable on uneven ground, though younger ones might find it a bit samey after twenty minutes. History types won't find much to get excited about - this is nature for its own sake, no ruins or plaques.

If you're staying at Braidhaugh Holiday Lodge just down the road, it's an easy morning outing before breakfast. Comrie Croft, slightly further off but worth the short drive, would pair nicely with this as part of a broader walking day around the area. Crieff itself has enough cafes and shops to make it a proper stop, so you're not stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Go early if you can - the car park fills with dog walkers by mid-morning, and the paths are considerably more pleasant without crowds. Free admission, so there's no barrier to popping in on spec.
