Hidro Hub

Water sports and action activities are the whole point of Hidro Hub, a dedicated sports venue just outside Newton Abbot in Devon. You're looking at everything from paddleboarding and kayaking to wakeboarding and cable skiing - the kind of place that gets adrenaline junkies properly excited. The facility sits on water, obviously, and caters mainly to people who want to do something rather than watch something.

It's brilliant for families with older kids who've got some water confidence, and genuinely brilliant for stag dos and groups after an afternoon that doesn't involve sitting down. Younger children might find it frustrating if they're not strong swimmers. Solo visitors and couples keen on action sports will absolutely get their money's worth.

You'll want to check their website for current prices and opening hours before you head down - they're not listed here, but it's worth a phone call or quick browse to book ahead. Most activities here run on a pay-per-session basis. Allow a solid half day if you're trying more than one activity; an hour will do if you just want a quick go at one thing.

Staying at Oakmoor Touring Park or Dornafield just down the road makes real sense if water sports are your main event. You're close enough for a morning or afternoon session without a long drive. Parkdean over in Torquay is a bit further but worth it if you want a bigger resort with more to do beyond the water.
