Headcorn Methodist Church

A modest red-brick Methodist chapel standing on the edge of Headcorn village, about four miles south of Ashford. It's the kind of building you'd walk past without thinking twice, except it's a proper example of Victorian nonconformist architecture - all neat proportions and honest materials, no fuss.

Inside, the sanctuary is simple and dignified. High ceilings, original woodwork in places, and that particular quietness that old chapels have. If you're into church architecture or Methodist history, it's worth a look. For everyone else, realistically, twenty minutes does it.

The real draw is if you're staying at one of the glamping sites nearby - Go Glamp, Wood View Farm, or Chegworth Mill are all within five miles - and fancying a gentle village walk. Headcorn itself is quiet, agricultural, the sort of place where you actually hear birds. The church fits naturally into that. Admission appears to be free, though it's worth ringing ahead or checking locally when you arrive, as opening times aren't widely advertised.

Families with young children will likely get restless. Serious church tourists or history walkers will find it worthwhile. The village makes a sensible half-hour detour if you're based at one of the surrounding glamping parks and want to stretch your legs beyond the site. Ashford is close enough if you need shops or a decent lunch.
