Headcorn Library

A functioning public library in the village of Headcorn, about four miles south of Ashford. It's the sort of place most visitors wouldn't stumble upon by accident - you need to actually want to be there. The building itself is modest, the kind of community library that serves locals far better than it serves tourists. That said, if you're staying at one of the nearby glamping sites - Go Glamp, Chegworth Mill, or Rankins Farm are all within five miles - and you've got a rainy afternoon or need a quiet spot to read, it does the job. You'll find books, of course, likely some local interest titles that give genuine flavour to the area. Children's sections in places like this tend to be well-stocked. The staff are invariably helpful. There's no entry fee and no faffing about with entry times. What you won't find is a destination experience. This is genuinely useful if you actually need it - borrowing a novel for the rest of your holiday, settling in with something about Kent's history - but it's not worth driving out for. A quick stop en route to Ashford proper, maybe. A rainy-day fallback if you're based at one of those farms. Worth knowing exists, absolutely. Worth planning a trip around? Not remotely.
