Headcorn Cinema

Headcorn Cinema is a proper small-town theatre just outside Ashford that still does things the old-fashioned way - proper film screenings, live performances, the lot. It's the kind of place where you'll actually recognise faces in the queue. The venue itself has that worn-in feel of somewhere that's been showing films since people actually went to cinemas for an evening out, not just for the £5 Tuesday deal.

This isn't a multiplex. You're looking at a single or maybe two screens, depending on what's on, and the programming tilts toward mainstream releases and community events rather than arthouse stuff. If you're the type who can't sit through a film without reserved seating and a three-quid bottle of water, you might find it a bit rough round the edges. But that's rather the charm. Families with younger kids will appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, and locals clearly rate it for proper community theatre nights.

If you're basing yourself at one of the glamping spots nearby - Go Glamp is closest at under two miles, or Wood View Farm and Chegworth Mill are within easy driving distance - it's a decent wet-weather option or evening activity. Worth checking their schedule beforehand though, as it's not the kind of place open every single night. Ring ahead before you go, and don't expect a full day's entertainment on its own. More of a nice addition to a Kent break than a destination in itself.
