Hayles Fruit Farm

You'll find Hayles Fruit Farm just outside Tewkesbury, a proper working farm that's been growing soft fruit for decades. It's the sort of place where you can actually pick your own strawberries, raspberries, and whatever else is in season - and honestly, it tastes completely different when you've yanked it off the plant yourself. The farm shop is decent too, selling pre-picked fruit, jams, and the usual farm fare.

Families with young kids will get the most out of a visit here. There's something about letting a five-year-old loose in a raspberry field that just works - they're entertained, they're learning where food comes from, and you'll leave with a proper haul if you're not careful. The picking season runs roughly May through August, so timing matters. Rain doesn't stop it being fun, but check their website before you go as opening times can be a bit variable.

It's a short hop from Tewkesbury, which is worth exploring separately for its medieval abbey and riverside charm. If you're camped at Winchcombe or one of the Cotswold sites nearby - Aston Somerville is only a few miles away - Hayles makes an easy half-day outing. Don't expect a massive visitor attraction. This is low-key, family-focused, and wonderfully unglamorous. Bring a basket, wear old clothes, and be prepared for muddy shoes. That's rather the point.
