Hasley Hill

The walk up Hasley Hill rewards you with proper 360-degree views across the New Forest and beyond - on a clear day you can see for miles. It's not a dramatic summit by any stretch, but the openness and the sense of elevation make it feel like you've earned something. The climb itself takes about twenty minutes from the car park, and the path is well-trodden though a bit muddy after rain.

This is walker territory, really. If you're after a quick leg-stretch between campsites it works perfectly; if you want dramatic vistas and a proper fell-walking experience, you might find it a touch underwhelming. Kids will manage it fine, though there's not much to do once you're up there beyond having a snack and admiring the view. On weekends it gets busy with locals out for their constitutional, which adds to the atmosphere rather than detracting from it.

The nearest base would be one of the campgrounds clustered around Lyndhurst - Ocknell Campsite and Longbeech Campsite sit closest at just over three miles away, with Fernwood Glamping another mile further on if you fancy something slightly more comfortable. This fits neatly into a New Forest holiday where you're moving between short walks and exploring the quieter corners of the park. Don't expect solitude, but do expect a genuinely pleasant viewpoint that justifies the twenty-minute detour from your camp.
