Hanover Way

The Hanover Way is a proper walking route that threads through Bracknell Forest, giving you a chance to actually move your legs after a few days parked up at one of the nearby caravan sites. It's not a single destination so much as a circular trail that takes in woodland paths, open spaces, and bits of local interest - the sort of walk where you might stumble across a decent view without it feeling like you've signed up for a fell marathon.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's decent for families with older kids who can manage a few miles without complaining, though younger children might find stretches a bit dull depending on which section you tackle. The route connects various parts of the forest, so you're not just staring at trees for hours - there's genuine variety. Allow three to four hours for the full loop, or pick a section if you're short on time.

What makes it work as part of a park holiday is that it's close enough to Windsor if you want to break up a longer trip without needing to drive far. Hampshire Park Homes and Amerden are within spitting distance, so you could easily walk it as a half-day activity between other stuff. Free to access, which is always a win when you're already shelling out for the caravan pitch.

Go in spring or autumn when the forest actually has character. Summer weekends get rammed with local families, and winter mud can be grim. The trail itself is well-marked if you know what you're looking for, though a map wouldn't go amiss.
