Hanging Clump

The woodland walk at Hanging Clump, just outside Witney, is a proper slice of Oxfordshire countryside that doesn't announce itself loudly but rewards anyone who bothers to find it. You're walking through established mixed forest here - the kind where ancient oaks tower overhead and the path darkens as the canopy thickens. It's genuinely quiet, which counts for a lot when most woods near towns have been trampled to death.

The walk itself is straightforward enough for families with reasonably mobile kids, though younger ones might lose interest after 30 minutes or so. The real draw is the sense of being properly away from things despite Witney being within spitting distance.
