Grove Coppice

Walk into Grove Coppice and you're straight into proper woodland - the kind where the canopy closes overhead and you actually feel removed from things. It's a forest that doesn't announce itself loudly; there's no visitor centre or gift shop, just trees, paths, and the occasional sound of a stream running through. The woodland here is mixed - oak, birch, and conifers creating a decent mix of shade and texture depending on the season.

This is walker territory, frankly. Come with boots that grip properly and allow yourself at least ninety minutes to get around without rushing. Kids can manage it fine if they're the outdoor type, though there's nothing to dramatically entertain them midway through - no playground, no café, no rope bridge. The paths can get muddy after rain, which is part of the appeal if you're after an authentic forest experience rather than a manicured loop.

The real value is proximity. If you're staying at Bank Farm Holiday Park just down the road, or further afield at Lodge Coppice, this becomes your local walk rather than a destination drive. It's the sort of place you pop into for two hours on a Wednesday afternoon when the light's good. Free to access, no permit required as far as visitors can tell. Spring and autumn work particularly well - less undergrowth to bash through in spring, and the colour's obvious in autumn. Winter can be gloomy depending on the day.

Worth the walk? If you're based nearby, absolutely. If you're driving specifically to Bewdley for forest time, the Wyre Forest just north is bigger and better established. But as a bonus discovery while holidaying locally, Grove Coppice does its job well.
