Grosvenor & Hilbert Park

The walk through Grosvenor & Hilbert Park takes you into proper woodland territory just outside Tunbridge Wells - the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think. It's a nature reserve, so expect mossy paths, mature trees, and if you time it right, woodland birds doing their thing in the canopy above.

This is walkers' territory, full stop. The terrain is undulating rather than dramatic, and the paths are well-maintained enough that you won't need serious boots, but it's not flat either. History buffs might get something from the fact that you're moving through landscape that's been managed for centuries, though there aren't obvious heritage features screaming for attention. Families with young children will manage fine for an hour or so, but it's not a destination that keeps kids entertained all day - bring a nature notebook if you want to stretch it.

The reserve sits perfectly for anyone based at one of the nearby glamping spots. Glamping at Honnington Farm is just 1.7 miles away, and Apple Acres Caravan & Camping Farm even closer - both excellent for a few nights if you're making this corner of Kent your base. Colts Hill and Hopgarden offer alternatives if you're flexible.

Go early morning if you can manage it. The light filters through differently then, and you're more likely to see wildlife actually doing something rather than bolting at the sound of the afternoon crowd. Allow ninety minutes minimum if you want to do it justice rather than rush through.
