Grey Wall

Standing at this clifftop viewpoint on the Gower Peninsula, you'll understand why locals simply call it Grey Wall. The limestone cliff face drops dramatically into Swansea Bay, creating one of those views that makes you forget about the wind whipping around your ears. On a clear day, you can see right across to North Devon.

The walk up from the car park takes about twenty minutes through typical Gower heathland. It's not particularly taxing, though the final approach can be a bit exposed when the weather turns. Families with older children will manage fine, but toddlers might struggle with the uneven ground.

What sets this spot apart from busier Gower viewpoints is the relative peace. While Three Cliffs Bay gets mobbed in summer, Grey Wall remains refreshingly quiet. The view takes in the full sweep of Swansea Bay, with the city sprawling in the distance and Mumbles Head clearly visible to the east.

Walkers tackling the Wales Coast Path will pass right by, but it's well worth the detour even if you're just staying at one of the nearby holiday parks. Pitton Cross and Hillend are both within easy reach, making this a proper morning's outing before lunch back at base. Allow an hour for the round trip, longer if you're the type to linger over coastal views.
