Graig Lom

The walk up Graig Lom from Ruthin is proper straightforward, and the views across the Vale of Clwyd make the climb worthwhile. It's one of those peaks that doesn't demand hours of your time - you're looking at maybe 90 minutes return depending on fitness - but rewards you with genuine panorama the moment you crest the ridge.

This isn't a technical scramble. The paths are worn but clear, and most families with decent walkers aged eight upwards would manage it without drama. The fell itself sits high enough that on a clear day you get proper sight lines towards Snowdonia and back towards the Dee Valley. On a grey day, you're paying for the walk with mist and not much else, so pick your weather.

What makes it tick for a park holiday is the location. Ruthin's close enough that you can squeeze this in without making it your whole day - grab breakfast in town, do the walk, and still have time for the afternoon.
