Gordon Russell Design Museum

His museum, based in Broadway, is a modest affair that won't eat up your whole afternoon, but if you care about how British design evolved in the twentieth century, it's absolutely worth stopping by.

The collection focuses on Russell's own work and the broader Arts and Crafts movement that influenced him. You'll see furniture pieces, sketches, and design philosophy laid out in a way that makes sense even if you've never thought twice about how a chair gets made. The real appeal here is understanding why Russell mattered - he didn't just make pretty things; he believed good design should be affordable and functional.
